Special Days in March

Special Days in March

I was looking to see which day is the Ides of March. I was surprised to find that it isn't one day. It is usually the 15th of the month, but can be from the 13th to the 15th of a month. Google it if you want to know more.

The thing that got me was how many things popped up in the search.

Did you know that today is Pig Day, March 1st? I found a whole lotta lists telling me what day it is, what month it is and what week it is. You know, like National Apple month, or National Tea Month, or like Hat Week or, well, Pig Day.

March is fill-in-the-blank month for over 60 causes or interests. There are over 70 fill-in-the-blank-weeks in March, and almost 100 fill-in-the-blank-days! How can anyone celebrate that much, or even remember what all of them are? Maybe there is a way to celebrate most of them or at least some of them.

The first of March is:
National Pig Day--is this for real? Take a pig to lunch.

National Peanut Butter Lovers Day--Everyone loves peanut butter, ah, unless they have a sensitivity to peanuts. So, take a pig to lunch and give them a peanut butter sandwich.

Share a Smile Day--So, give the pig a peanut butter sandwich and smile while they eat it.

Asiatic Fleet Memorial Day--I couldn't believe this was a real holiday. I looked it up, and President Bush signed for it. Don't the other US Fleets get a day? Dress the pig in a middy blouse and smile while it eats the peanut butter sandwich.

Endometriosis Day or Wear Yellow Day--May as well be supportive, make sure the pig has a yellow middy blouse and smile while it eats the peanut butter sandwich.

National Horse Protection Day--You gotta be kiddin' me. Do horses really need protection? I guess horses and pigs don't get along that well, but horses are a lot faster than pigs, cant they just run away? Maybe this is pigzilla? Maybe the pig won't share, and that is what starts the altercation. But, it is also...

National Peanut Lovers Day--So, try to slip some peanuts to the horse while you are smiling at the pig in the yellow middy as it eats the peanut butter sandwich.

Peace Corps Day--And you are gonna need these guys if the Pig in the yellow middy finishes his peanut butter sandwich and finds out the horse has peanuts. There go the smiles.

Plan a Solo Vacation Day--This is what you are going to want to do when you are done with the peanuts, the horse and the pig in the yellow middy.

Refired, Not Retired Day--This is really a reach. I mean, who comes up with this?

Saint David's Day--Pray for us!

Sock Monkey Day--This is really a stretch. Sock Monkey Day?

World Compliment Day--Take the yellow middy away from the pig and give it to the sock monkey. Tell him how good he looks in it and throw the rest of the peanuts out in the barnyard. When the horse and pig start to quarrel over them, call in the peace corps and walk away smiling.

You think the second is going to be any easier?
